Degree routes, by stream
Your 12th stream opens (but doesn't strictly limit) certain degree paths.
- Science (PCM) — engineering, architecture, pure sciences, computer applications
- Science (PCB) — medicine, pharmacy, biotechnology, allied health sciences
- Commerce — B.Com, BBA, CA/CS/CMA, economics
- Arts/Humanities — BA programs, law, design, mass communication, social work
Skill-based routes that don't require a degree first
A degree isn't the only path to a strong career. Vocational and skill-based training — in areas like digital marketing, graphic design, web development, or a trade certification — can lead directly to employable skills, often faster and at lower cost than a full degree program. Many people combine this with a part-time or distance degree later.
Jobs you can apply for directly after 12th
A meaningful number of listings are open to 12th pass candidates directly, particularly in sales, retail, customer support, data entry, and junior operations roles. These are a reasonable way to start earning while deciding on a longer-term path, or while studying part-time.
Choosing between interest and market demand
The strongest long-term choice is usually where genuine interest and reasonable market demand overlap — a field you'll actually stay motivated to get better at, that also has enough real openings to build a career in. If you're unsure, informational conversations with people already working in a field you're considering are more useful than rankings or trends alone.

Check listings filtered for entry-level and fresher jobs, and keep an eye on internship opportunities — even short, unpaid ones — as a low-risk way to test out a field before committing to it long-term.
